Biography of the contemporary French sculptor

A search between matter, form and expression

Sculpting is not a trivial act.

It is a tension between matter and spirit, an attempt to awaken consciences and what they refuse to hear. Arson, a contemporary French sculptor, develops a unique universe visible in his portfolio .

The career of the contemporary French sculptor

Arson is a contemporary French sculptor whose work explores the tension between matter, the body, and a critique of the contemporary world.
Through his sculptures, he develops a unique, immediately identifiable universe.

Born in Paris in 1953, he entered the Beaux-Arts at 16. After an initial interest in painting, he explored architecture before returning to sculpture, modeling and materials.
This diverse background allows him to develop a strong and consistent artistic signature.

A work poised between poetry and tension

While women represent a fantasized ideal for him, his works primarily invite us to look beyond appearances.

Each creation by Arson tells a story, a unique dream, where poetry and invention intertwine.

Artistic approach

Arson is a contemporary French sculptor whose works are part of a constant search between the strength of forms, the tension of the body and symbolic interpretation.

Each sculpture develops its own presence, designed to assert itself in space and elicit an immediate reaction, beyond mere decorative appeal.

Arson opened his first sculpture workshop in 1976 in Gordes, Provence, then moved to the southwest, to Montcuq, in the Lot.

Influences and vision

An admirer of Duchamp and Magritte, he considers himself an heir to Dadaism, in its transgressive and provocative dimension.

Regarding his work L'Esculmau, Arson likes to paraphrase Magritte: " This is neither a mirror, nor a body, it is an Esculmau ," thus affirming his original vision of contemporary sculpture, while inviting you to understand the value of a French sculpture .

heir to the surrealists

A worthy heir to the Surrealists, Arson is a poet, somewhat of an anarchist, and passionate about femininity and female creativity. Through his unconventional, often excessive and provocative works, he invites the viewer to reflect not only on women, but also on contemporary society and the taboos that constrain it.

His sculptures, somewhere between outsider art and contemporary art, evolve in rhythm with the material he passionately shapes and his unique perspective on a world in perpetual upheaval. As he likes to remind us: "Anarchy is the freedom of those who deserve it."

Inspired by Léo Ferré, who famously said "your style is your ass," Arson seems to share this view. In his work, form always allows content to shine through, revealing the essence of his creations.

A signature piece: the candy

This candy-shaped sculpture subverts a popular object by incorporating a central form inspired by the body, subtly suggested between the wrappers.

The contrast between metallic orange and bright silver enhances the reading of the work, between visual seduction and formal tension.

Arson here affirms an approach where matter, volume and symbol meet to create a contemporary sculpture that is both immediate and disturbing.

If you wish to choose a contemporary sculpture , understanding the materials, formats and artistic approach is essential before any purchase.
